About Robert

Robert Field made his earliest images with his father's pre-War Leica which was held together with wire by the time it gave up the ghost.  'I've seen Leicas in the hands of many mid-century photographers, Lisette Model used this camera.'  Many of Robert's early images were lost when he was of no fixed abode but the collection ‘Men at Work’ survives; Alfred Stieglitz was an early influence.  Robert's images range from European and North American landscapes through to portrait and abstraction.  His silver and pigment prints are in a number of museums and in public and many private and corporate collections.  Robert also has a background in academic life and in London newspapers.
